Does Ritchie get on your guys's nerves?
He gets on mine. The way he kind of yells or whatever. Sometimes, though, he's cute and normal and all, but most of the time he just yells...
Anybody share the same feelings?

Is Richie their kid? I haven't seen this show in years and I've always had this crush on Dick Van Dyke so my mind was very much on him (and so were my eyes).

Okay--I started watching season 1 of the show on instant watch via netflix. This is what my Friday/Saturday was made up of. Wow, I am SO cool, aren't I? Lmao--anyway, I'm having a blast watching the show.
I don't know what is wrong with Richie. He's such a strange child... like anything that scares him he jumps inside the closet or the cabinet in the kitchen. That's the kind of kid who would wear a helmet...inside the house. He has a thought and then he has an instant reaction--which is usually fear. Sometimes he's a smart-ass, too.
He hasn't annoyed me yet, but he has one of those voices that can and will ride your nerves. I agree.

haha I have the biggest crush on Dick Van Dyke, so I know what you mean. And watching the Dick Van Dyke Show is how I spend every weekend, lol.
He is quite a strange child, I'll agree. Yeah, he's always doing stuff like that. There's one episode where this bird attacks him and Laura calls Rob to say that he wouldn't get out of the bath, lol. I love Carl Reiner and his writing for the show, but I think he could have made Ritchie a little more... normal, I guess is the right word.
Ugh his voice. Drives me crazy. I'm kind of getting used to it because I watch it about three times a day. I'm homeschooled this year, so when I wake up in the morning, TV Land plays it two times and then Me-TV plays it once at night.
Ron Howard was the best child actor in the 1960s, in my opinion. I also think Opie was probably the best child in a series during that time, too. Opie just seemed kind of normal.

I just watched two more hours of season 1. That kid is turning from stranger to flat-out stupid. I saw the episode where Laura got a chance to dance on the show Rob writes for, and he got to stay up to watch her--and he's like "Mommy was the best." and Rob's like "yeah she was" and he's like "...which one was mommy again?" I'm like good Lord, somebody get this kid outta my face. I laugh at what he says, but I'm like wow--where'd he come from? His parents aren't stupid to that extent, but Rob and Laura do some stupid and "strange" things--so perhaps he really is their child.
Oh TV Land has it on these days? I haven't seen this show on cable TV since Nick at Nite existed for the classics (instead of the 90s/00s shows they have on there now). Actually, perhaps longer. I was probably 11 when I last saw this show and I'm going to be 25 in August. I don't remember a damn thing about it OTHER THAN...Rob being really hot and adorable. Lmao--things like that you pick up on when you're a kid (hey, at least I did), and they stick with you until you're older...then you start to realize that the reason why you liked watching the show had a lot more to do with your hormones than you knew existed at the time.
Oh yeah. I agree. Opie was just your normal All-American boy. There was nothing wrong with him. Then again look who his father was. Not having a mother (if I remember correctly) probably had something to do with who he was and how he acted. This one over here--Richie, he's spoiled rotten and an only child! ONLY CHILD SYNDROME!!!!
Wow. You're home-schooled this year? I envy you. I always wanted to be home-schooled, but no...parents made me go off to a actual school which I HATED tremendously.

Which one is that? I don't think I've seen that one. But lmao why would he need to know who his mother was, wouldn't he know? Wait, what kind of strange things do Rob and Laura do? I haven't really noticed any. But they do stupid stuff sometimes. There's this one episode where one of Laura's old boyfriends is going to work for the show and Rob tells him, "Ritchie's sick. We're not going to make it. It's a shame we can't have it at my house." And then the guy says they should do that and so that's what they do. Rob basically talked himself into that one. XD
Yeah, it comes on in the morning at 9.30am EST and then one after that. They had a huge marathon a week in October because that was it's anniversary week and they've been playing it ever since. I didn't grow up watching the Show so I don't have any childhood memories from it. But I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark for the first time when I was in about 3rd grade and I thought Harrison Ford was really good-looking. XD
You're right, he didn't have a mother and neither did Andy. There must be something about the Taylor men not having a mother. Aunt Bee raised both of them. And also Andy wasn't really a strict father, but he didn't really buy anything (apart from clothes, food, etc) for Opie, he had to buy other stuff like toys and such with his allowance money and do chores. I'm pretty sure Ritchie didn't have any chores. So even though they were both an only child, they were raised completely different.
Home-schooling is ok. Hardly anybody my age home-schools so there's not a lot of home-school groups for my age. If they are kids my age home-schooling they're used for baby-sitters. No thanks. This is my first and last year to do it. It's really kind of boring.

I don't know if it's stupid or if it's wild. Either way, they make me laugh--Rob and Laura. One episode I can think of is when they had people over their house and Sally and Buddy were there--and that like producer/boss or whatever that always gets into it with Buddy, what's his name? Anyway they were all over there with all these other people and Laura was like "Oh I can't dance. I'm just a housewife" and then the first music note Rob and like Buddy made, she kicked her leg up so high and started dancing. Then when everyone left Rob was yawning and Laura was still reeling from all the fun and she's all like OH MY GOD!!!! And then she's like "Oh Rob, do you think I danced too much?" and he's like "No..." and she's like "I didn't think I did either, but really, an hour and a half...OH I DON'T CARE, IT'S MY HOUSE AND I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT!!!" LMAO. She just lost control. She was so excited. And I'm like...wow... this woman can't be stopped. That's it. Raised completely different. Different lifestyles, too. His mom was a stay at home mother and his dad wrote for TV. He's one of those "showbiz" peoples kids. Opie was was like a country bumpkin without being a country bumpkin. Did you get to decide on homeschooling? I was your age when I wanted to be home-schooled--but you know, my two best friends and I thought home-school meant you could do whatever you want--and not learn. Lmao. That's how 'stupid' my friends and I were. All we wanted to do was go to bed at 4am and wake up at noon--and ride bikes and terrorize the neighborhood. Yes, we are girls, in case anyone was wondering, but we were WILD. Oh. Don't even talk about Harrison Ford as anyone or in anything. He's like the love of my life.

Oh, I see what you mean. And you're thinking of Mel. Why did she say she couldn't dance? She was a dancer in the USO and I thought everybody knew she could dance. What's been your favorite episode so far? Rob and Laura are so adorable, though. They're one of my favorite on-screen couples. I love when she says, "Oh Rob!" whenever he does something.
Yeah. Last year, we moved to a new state and I went to the school there and I hated it. It was awful and then I did homeschooling and then we moved to another state again. And now I'm just bored. My lessons won't load until April so I'm just sitting here watching three movies a day, lol.

I watched a few more episodes this weekend. Hearing you say "Oh Rob" makes me think of when he gave her this necklace that only some Princess in some far away land would wear. She HATED it, but she couldn't tell him, but when he gave it to her he's like "Honey, you're going to let out the biggest OH ROB you've ever have in your life!" LMAO. It was so funny when he said that.
Apparently they didn't know she could dance. I mean, they did an episode on how her and Rob met one another before she danced in the episode I talked about, but they told the story in flashbacks and only to their son--nobody else. At least not that I know of.
I don't know. I haven't gotten a chance to figure out what my favorite episode has been so far. They've all pretty much made me laugh. I think I like the one where Buddy asks Rob to take care of his dog, Larry. There was a Cary Grant reference in it from Rob, but that's not why it took to me. I just found it hilarious how Rob put Larry as big as he was in a baby crib. I also like the one where Rob thinks the guy who said he knew him from the service was a jewel thief. Recently the one where he treats Sally like a "lady" and then Mel and Buddy think they're having an affair--all because Laura said he shouldn't treat her like one of the guys.
How about you?
How come they start so late? Hey, I hear ya. I mean I have work, but it's been three months since I've been out of college because I can't afford it, and I'm watching more movies than ever now. It's funny--I'm in film school for college and when I was active, I had to force myself to watch certain movies. I've learned more things about film now than I did while being in film school. I think that's why after I got over being angry I'd never get to finish film school, I realize that I didn't need to go to film school to know what I know. I can learn anything I want if I put my mind to it. It's not like they make ANY college inexpensive anyway.

That episode is hilarious. It's one of my favorites. I think it's called Empress Carlotta's necklace or something like that. I was laughing so hard, my mom said, "What's so funny?" And I said, "Dick Van Dyke." And she was just like, "..." She doesn't like him. I understand nothing.
Those are funny too. I'll have to go and watch that one again because I didn't catch the reference. It might have been before my old Hollywood obsession was in full effect and I just really only knew about Clark Gable. XD
I basically like them all, but ones that stick out are "Never Bathe on a Sunday" (where Rob and Laura go on their honeymoon and she gets in her big toe stuck in the bath faucet), "Oh How We Met the Night We Danced" (the one where they tell Ritchie how they met), and then I like all the ones with Rob's brother, Stacey in them.
Well, I only went to the school for week and the homeschool thing we chose hadn't started up the year yet. Oh, wow, that sucks, though. But yeah, I know what you mean. I'm learning more from movies than the cinema history class I'm taking. It's also just a high school course so it's not really in depth like a college course would be. What are you training to be at film school?

She doesn't like him? I thought everybody liked Dick Van Dyke one way or the other!
Oh my god! HER TOE STUCK IN A BATH FAUCET?! How on earth does one do that? Which season is this?!
I think it's just one of those things. Some people learn better in a classroom and others learn better by being in their surroundings--if that makes sense.
I was going to be a music video director. I really wanted to change the music video game. Give music videos an actual point instead of just quick cuts, nudity, and fashion. College is pretty much over me though. Far too expensive for me to even consider.

I don't even know. Dick Van Dyke is so cute and adorable I find it impossible that anybody could dislike him. She doesn't even like Bert in Mary Poppins. How can you hate Bert or Dick Van Dyke I want to know.
I know, eh? I didn't even know it was possible. Must have had a big toe. XD I got the title wrong though, it's "Never Bathe on a Saturday" and it's in Season 4.
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
Oh my god! That sounds awesome. It sucks you can't afford it anymore. Music videos these days are awful. "Look at me and my shit aren't I awesome" is basically what they're all about.

That's not right. Not right at all. I love Mary Poppins...and Bert's one of the reasons. One of the BIG reasons.
Season 4, wow, I have a long way to go. I think I'm still somewhere in season 2--but I'm not really talking to the friend whose account I used so I haven't logged into her streaming for a while now. Not that she changed her password, but I don't want her to see that I'm still using her account after what the issue I had with her.

Oh, god I haven't checked the forum in so long. D: Sorry.
But yeah, Bert is just so great. I don't know how you couldn't love him. He's a big reasons why I love Mary Poppins, too. My mom doesn't like Jerry Lewis either. It's because she doesn't like slapstick. She's told me that she kinda likes Dick Van Dyke now.
Oh, I understand. Well, it's on hulu, if you want to keep watching it.
